Kerri's Kiss Naturals: Pomade Acne

Having boys my barbershop visits were always an experience. Much respect. Sitting there you see and hear everything. With the guys that patron you get familiar request of a lining, low trim or re-twist. You also notice the guys that suffer from acne "no judgement" however, I have never heard a conversation on pomade acne or how to prevent it.

What is Pomade Acne?

Pomade Acne occurs when some of the pomade that is applied to the scalp is also applied to the forehead and is responsible for the development of multiple, closely packed pimples/bumps close to the hairline.
(Basically, it’s acne on the forehead, temples, and hairline due to the repeated use of pomades. Because of their thick texture, pomades can clog pores, causing whiteheads and blackheads.)

How do you get Pomade Acne?

As pomade acne occurs primarily due to the development of clogged pores, this condition may be able to be prevented in many cases. Hair care products that are water-based are much less likely to cause this issue than those that are oil-based. You can also get it from not washing your hair regularly and removing product build up, if you wear hats not washing the bib, not washing your scarf/ durag, also not washing your brush or pillow case. Pomade acne was first reported in the 1970's but its still relevant today with cases of it seen in both male and female. Yes females! especially if you wear bangs.

How can you get rid of Pomade Acne?

Eliminate the hair care product completely and go for something more water based. Care for the skin by exfoliating with a gentle exfoliate this will remove excess oil from your skin reducing clogged pores.

Tea Tree Scrub will work due to the natural antibacterial properties tea tree oil has which makes it a good alternative to harsh synthetic chemicals. Using the scrub on the skin will unblock and disinfect the pores and dry out whiteheads, blackheads pimples and other blemishes.

Update: Kerri's Kiss Naturals 1 - Pityriasis Rosea 0

Imagine,
Out of the blue your child or even yourself wakes up with blotches all over. Not knowing if its an allergic reaction, a break out due to something she contacted or what. Horrible right?
That's how I felt. After a long wait to see my PCP and an even longer wait during my ER visit I was hit with the news (diagnosis) that my daughter has Pityriasis Rosea.

                                                                        12/12/17

This was truly an experience that hit my heart, my daughter began to start feeling self conscious due to the rash on her chest that seemed to stretch across her shoulder blade, up her neck down to her sternum. Her physician prescribed her benadryll, told me to consider oatmeal baths and calamine lotion so she wouldn't damage or skin if she got the notion to scratch even though that's what the syrup was for. Since I created a healing balm & Oatmeal chamomile bath soak for just these circumstances this would be the best time to put the products to work so my middle daughter can enjoy life worry free.

Time has passed and my daughter didnt really notice any changes but I noticed some of the dark dry patches were beginning to lighten up, her patches werent dry and they seemed to be getting smaller. She didnt have faith but I did, I knew that with the right botanical break down I can put the moisture back into her skin, soothe those dry patches. With the Chamomile Oatmeal soaks that helped reduce inflammation and help her sleep better.

12/22/17

At this point it was crunch time, Christmas break. This break will give me enough time to get her physically and mentally prepare to go back to school with clearer skin and the confidence she had before. I was still lost as to where and why she got this but I had one mission get her clear.

She truly hated her skin and doubted everything I tried but she did mention how soft her skin was and the larger patch was starting to fade but she didn't want to look like a freak with spots.

                                                                        01/05/18

Success!
By looking at this picture you can see why I'm so proud to blog this update. My daughter chest is practically clear with no scars, no inflamed areas, her skin is hydrated not just the visual effects but my daughter feels better than before. Confident to get back to school participate in sport and live a normal life without people looking at her neck asking questions or her scratching causing attention to herself.

So Now its the first of Jan 2018, time to get those resolutions going. One resolution on almost everyone's list is weight loss.

From my highest weight of 230 size 19 (pregnancy), to my lowest of 130 size 3/4 (high school)
Life happens so I'm not close to either! (Laugh Out Loud)
However I am a healthy 160 size 12/14, Ladies you know every pair of pants fit different so no side eye. Losing weight rapidly (diet change, more walking, smaller portion sizes) and having 5 beautiful kids age ranging from 20 to 7 years old I've earned my stripes and Fupa (sad face).
